ON THE COURSE - THE SPRING CUP
All competitors endured much kinder conditions in last Saturdays' Spring Cup Bogey competition which was reflected by the excellent scores returned. Paul McMullen's outstanding round of gross 69 [+3 in the Bogey format] was only good enough for equal 3rd place with Rob Skuse as Bruce Strickland's score of +5 took 1st place from Gordon Allen on +4. Kevin Smith, Dominic O'Connor and Keith Farrow tied for 5th place on +1.
ACADEMY NEWS
Thank you to the 11 ladies who took part in last week's coaching session, the 2nd in this springs series of 4. It is always a pleasure to help improve your game and the continued growth in the popularity of these events is very encouraging. See you on the 16th for the next session.
GOLF MONTH
As a "Get into Golf Centre" Kingsdown Golf Club will be running a number of events throughout May to encourage new people to take up golf. These sessions will take place EVERY Saturday in May between 10.00-11.00 and 11.30-12.30 at the driving range/academy and are FREE OF CHARGE. If you know anyone interested in trying golf, bring them along [no appointment necessary], we will even provide all the equipment.
So we finally have arrived at this year's 1st Major Championship - The Masters with Rory McIlroy bidding to win a 3rd consecutive Major and become the 6th player in history to achieve a career Grand Slam. Whilst on paper he looks a clear favourite, he does have a number of very strong challengers with Jordan Spieth, Jimmy Walker, JB Holmes and Bubba Watson all showing good early season form. So if Rory doesn't win this year's Masters, who will ? Patrick Reed could be the man. Game on!
A reminder to everyone of my forthcoming demo days:
Titleist on Thursday 16th April 2.00-6.00pm
