Feltham Foursomes
A new partner did not stop Gordon Allen regaining the Feltham Foursomes title he won last year as he and Richard Talbot returned an outstanding score of nett 65 [gross 74] to give them a 5 shot winning margin over the ever steady pair of Jo Saunders and Tim Unwin in 2nd place. There was a 3 way tie for 3rd place featuring the pairings of Keith Farrow and Steve Howard, Steve Gollege and Martin Lye plus Martin Hayward and Marcus Lewis.
Winter Open
Another day and another new partner but another victory as Gordon Allen partnered Mel Moore to take 1st place on countback from the pairings of Piercy and Dimond plus Andy Marquiss and Peter Cole after all 3 pairs returned 42 points. There was a 4-way tie on 4th place with 41 points.
Gordon puts his recent run of good form down to a number of factors. More practise on our range closely linked to a new fitness regime which includes actually running to the bar to place his food order ! And picking a good partner !!
GOLF ON TV
It was great to see Padraig Harringtons play-off win in last week's Honda Classic on the PGA Tour.
Harrington who had climbed to #3 in the world following his victory in the 2008 US PGA Championship had fallen to a lowly #297 and was relying on sponsor's invitations just to get into events. After double-bogeying the 17th hole of the final round the Irishman bravely holed a 15 foot putt on the last green to get into a play-off which he duly won on the 2nd extra hole. The whole event was outstanding for UK golf in general as 5 of the top 6 places were filled by UK players.
